Define the exam experience you actually need

A generic quiz is not automatically a realistic mock exam. For example, the SAT has an adaptive structure described by College Board. A fixed practice set should not be advertised as an equivalent adaptive test or a validated SAT score predictor.

Write down the subject, learner group, question formats and feedback rules for your course. Separate everyday practice from timed simulation.

Pilot one topic and one review session

Choose a small set of questions spanning a few common mistakes. Have learners complete it, then ask a teacher to identify useful follow-up work. Check whether the results support that teaching decision rather than merely showing pages viewed.

Test a second attempt separately. A higher score on repeated questions may reflect familiarity; it is not proof of an equivalent improvement on the real exam.

Include the people around the learner

Determine who needs access: the learner, a tutor, an administrator and, where appropriate, a parent or institutional contact. Test those roles separately. Do not share a learner’s full history simply because a second person helps pay for the course.

Ask the provider for the relevant privacy, accessibility and security documentation. Have your responsible adviser assess requirements for your actual audience and contracts; a sales page cannot certify that fit.

Finish the operational rehearsal

Test course access, the welcome message, a changed start date and a support request. Ask who handles an access incident during your busiest teaching period. Confirm implementation tasks and usage limits before comparing prices.
